As an ebundler Casedo only supports the direct export of Bookmarks. However, if you need to export Highlights and Comments, there is a workaround.

Why can’t I directly export Highlights and Comments?

Casedo is designed to help you make sense of your documents and so contains a suite of tools that allow you to undertake your document analysis quickly, efficiently and give you the ability to jump straight back in where you left off (for more information see Casedo Document Annotation 101).

Casedo is also a bundling tool, allowing users to create court (and other) compliant ebundles without having to upload sensitive documents to third party servers. As far as we understand, there are no courts or other bodies who allow Highlights and Comments in a submitted ebundle. So from a purely functional point of view, we have not prioritised including the ability to directly export Highlights and Comments. However, these are on our roadmap and will be included at a later date. However, as mentioned above, you can include Highlights and Comments in an exported bundle using the workaround below.

How to include Highlights and Comments in your exported ebundle.

1. Create, organise and annotate a bundle to your requirements.

2. Add a table of contents. For information on how to do this see How to add a Table of Contents.

3. Once the table of contents has been positioned correctly and populated, click on the three vertical dots located in the top righthand corner of the table of contents page.

4. From the drop down menu select the annotations you want to export. For more information on this, see Advanced Table of Contents. You may need to click Regenerate Table of Contents to see the changes.

5. Before exporting the bundle, check that you are happy with the table of contents in Casedo:

5. Once you are happy that the table of contents contains the annotations you want to export, export the ebundle. For more information on how to do this see How to Export Case to PDF.

Once exported, your table of contents will look like this:

Table of contents entries in the PDF reader are hyperlinked and so will take you to the relevant part of the ebundle, once clicked. Also, the highlights and comments are now searchable.

Whilst this is not the most elegant solution it is a workaround that goes someway to solving this issue until the feature itself is built out in Casedo.
